Melanie Walker (also known as Ten) is a recurring grapheme of Batman Beyond. She is the girl of the Leaders of the Royal Affluent Gang and is the one-time love involvement of Terry McGinnis.

Personality
Melanie was notably less cold-blooded and ruthless than her male parent and was much more humane. She seemed gentle, empathetic, smart, level-headed, honorable, somewhat outspoken, reliable, and trustworthy enough.
Background
Ten was presumably initiated into her life of crime at an early historic period, seeing as she had no friends and was constantly "uproot[ed] every few weeks". She eventually grew weary of her lifestyle, becoming the simply malcontent member of the gang. X played a vital role in the squad, as she was in accuse of overriding the security systems of the places they robbed.

On her first nighttime in Gotham Urban center, Melanie went to Juice Bar, but didn't go in because she didn't know anybody. She observed Terry McGinnis and Dana Tan's spat from exterior and when he got out, she approached him, and the 2 bonded. The two went for a walk until the intermission of dawn, and Melanie expressed her business organization for the possibility of moving once again very shortly. The two agreed to meet again on the next night at the same time.

During the night of their engagement, Melanie and Terry are forced to fight against each other when the Royal Flush Gang break into a museum. They both constantly cheque the time and want to make sure they don't miss seeing each other. However, their fight and robbery terminal longer and both miss the fourth dimension to meet with i another. Despite the late 60 minutes, Terry and Melanie go to the meeting place and happily reunite and share a heartfelt comprehend and buss. Since and then, Terry and Melanie spend the unabridged night together, happy in each other'southward company. Melanie soon came to realize she had fallen in love with Terry, but sadly informed him that her family is planning to "move" again. While Terry tried to question how long until the "move", Melanie tries to assure Terry to instead live in the moment. Terry and Melanie arrange to encounter again the next dark, but to realize it'southward at present a new solar day and scout equally the sunday rises. The Royal Flush Gang returned home and a fight quickly ensured between them. Terry was hesitant to fight Melanie due to his feelings for her and eventually the fight escalated when Melanie had to choose if wether or not she should rescue her male parent. Terry hoped Melanie would cull to runaway, merely instead Melanie cull to save her father, simply nearly lost her life until Batman saved her. The next twenty-four hours, Melanie and her family were officially arrested for their crimes. Before leaving, Melanie and Terry caught each other'south sight and Melanie was left both embarrassed and disappointed as she was taken away into custody.
Terry was left heartbroken from Melanie'due south betrayal, but managed to move on with his life and got back together with Dana. However, Terry and Melanie would reunite sometime later when Melanie retuned to Gotham Metropolis to rescue her family who were kidnapped by the Jokerz. In her Ten persona, Melanie attempts to rob the Derby, a high ranking poker friction match just to be stopped by Batman. Melanie managed to escape and went to Terry'south habitation and reunited with him. Nevertheless, Terry was unhappy to meet Melanie again, still deeply injure and upset by her betrayal from their last encounter. Melanie understands Terry's feelings and confesses her regret for her deportment, but tries to reason, revealing she held no choice as it was between him or her family. However, Terry refuses Melanie'south excuses, reminding her their is always a choice. Melanie begins to reveal Terry her troubles, revealing her family unit's kidnapping by the Jokerz, including the threat they'll be killed if the police go involved. While reluctant Terry believes Melanie and when Dana calls, remaining of a previously arranged appointment, Terry excuses himself and asks for a raincheck. Ending the phone call, Terry and Melanie share a passionate romantic osculation, revealing that Terry trusts Melanie and that despite his relationship with Dana and the events of the past, a role of Terry all the same loves Melanie.
Terry and Melanie spend time alone together and Melanie begins to apologize for what previously happened betwixt them and reveals her desire to start over. Terry attempts to reveal to Melanie things accept inverse since the terminal time they saw each other, trying to inform Melanie nigh his human relationship with Dana. Worried, Melanie questions Terry's feelings and he reveals that he does in fact still loves her. Melanie and Terry near kiss, until they hear Terry's family returning home. Melanie decides it's time to leave to work her program, but Terry tries to cease her, seeing she tin't do this lone. Melanie assures Terry and thanks for him for caring and leaves, just not before giving him a quick final kiss goodbye. Worried for Melanie's safety, Terry decides to assist her, only keeps the mission a secret from Bruce. However, knowing that despite his feelings, Terry realizes that he has to choose between Melanie or Dana, especially later on a talk with Max, hinting her awareness of the situation and advises Terry he needs to make a decision.
Terry as Batman meets upwardly with Melanie and offers his help to rescue her family from the Jokerz. Melanie is hesitant to raid the Jokerz hideout, knowing they are incredibly outnumbered and instead wishes to render to her original program, but Batman refuses. Earlier entering, Melanie gives Batman a letter for Terry if the worst case scenario she doesn't make it out and makes him promise he won't read it. Batman promises and he and Melanie sneak into the hideout. However, they are quickly discovered and while Batman proceeds further into the hideout, Melanie is frightened and runs away back to the Derby, leaving Batman to fend for himself against the Jokerz. Melanie manages to successfully rob the Derby and goes to the meeting identify to suit her family'southward release. However, much to Melanie'south surprise, her parents reveal themselves and learns the "kidnapping" was zero but a hoax, discovering this was a test for Melanie to prove her dear and loyalty to the family. Melanie is deeply injure and betrayed by her parents actions and realizes they don't dear her, seeing if they did they never would have put her through this plot or made her choose between them or Terry.
Shortly later Batman arrives and a fight begins between him and the Imperial Flush Gang. However, refusing to continue living her life as a criminal and later on the ordeal, Melanie runaways from the fight and watches from the shadows equally her family unit is one time again arrested for their crimes. Later on while having a nightout with Dana, Terry finds the note Melanie gave to Batman. However, Terry finally makes his decision, choosing Dana over Melanie, wanting to move on with his life and puts his former human relationship with Melanie in the by, throwing away the alphabetic character without ever reading it. Since and so, Terry and Melanie ended their relationship for skilful as Terry continues his life as Batman and his relationship with Dana while Melanie works an honest life at a restaurant and completely cuts ties with her criminal family.
