I walked away. I liked Pascal simply sense the game is so much about what it ways to be homo or live, I felt like that was most meaningful choice. Also, it seemed like a pick the game would allow and then I tried it and I was very happy it worked.

I walked away. Given the choice between deleting someone's retentivity, killing them, and letting them live and become over their sorrow in time, why wouldn't y'all let them live? If my friend has but had his family unit killed I wouldn't knock him against a door till he either forgot them or was expressionless. After chirapsia the game I looked upwardly all sorts of resources and interviews nigh the game to get some more than closure. 1 of the things I was gratified to find, though I don't have it on hand was a timeline of what happened after the finish of the game. The most important ane for me was that a colony lead by Pascal made contact with and peace with the Androids. Without the Car Network or Yorha around to muck things up and perpetuate the conflict, I'chiliad happy that their pacifism was succesful at terminal.

I didn't realize walking abroad was a possibility at the time so I erased his memories. The outcome of that option was pretty dark.

Walking away is probably the best choice, just erasing memories is probably the most "Yoko Taro" pick, and so I'1000 kinda glad I did it.

I walked away. When a fellow man has a traumatic feel, you do your best to assistance them through it, short of killing them, fifty-fifty if that is what they ask for. To exist human is a combination of living through the best, the mundane and the worst. Unfortunately everyone goes through a cycle of all three at some point in their lives, at multiple points. It becomes a learning experience to know that time heals all wounds. You then learn that y'all don't e'er take the time for those wounds to heal but the reason you lot feel this pain was because something that gave you lot joy is gone/expressionless/changed. Pascal is a beingness with human being emotion, to snuff him out, or fifty-fifty more cruelly erase his learning experience, and the significant backside that experience (his friends, family, community) is a disgrace to his humanity and life in general. After all, living with no hurting means there is no happiness to crusade that pain, and what is the betoken of such a meaningless existence?

I didn't know that walking abroad was an option, because the last time I walked away from something, I ended upwardly getting one of the joke endings and lost a good 10 minutes. As well, I read 'hacking Pascal' equally mercy killing him because I went back and along betwixt 9S and A2 during that part and I never ran into Pascal equally 9S after that result.

Walking away from Pascal and erasing his memories merely seemed like running away from the issue. Given no other choice I preferred to not let him endure. If given another choice of staying to assist him get over what he had washed I would have gladly chosen that 1.

Different the other people here I knew walking away was a possibility. I'k not sure I agree with @sinreaver that walking abroad constitutes helping Pascal get through a traumatic experience. It felt similar draconian condone, particularly in light of A2'south less than compassionate personality. A2's narrative arc has a lot to exercise with learning how to care about things again. When I heard Pascal's pitiful phonation asking "You're not simply gonna go out me here, are you A2?", I knew I had to make a concluding choice between empathy and aloofness. For me, it was no choice at all.

Pascal is an altruistic character in a Yoko Taro game. So I erased his retentiveness because that's only no way to live.

I walked away considering that wasn't my selection to make. I was actually enough of a jerk that I thought him asking for a memory wipe was extremely selfish, allow alone the function where he wanted to force the deed on someone else. He clearly didn't empathize the weight of the situation and was just looking for a quick escape, and I personally didn't want to decide whether he deserved it or non.

I didn't actually desire to but I killed him. Felt like it was what A2 would do. Did not know you could just walk away and would probably accept washed that if I knew information technology was an option.

Walked abroad-painful memories be in lodge to learn from your mistakes. It'due south what information technology means to be sentient and alive, which is part of Pascal's journey as a character (as pitiful as that maybe).

That being said, I went back and erased his memory in order to become all the weapons and also buy materials from him later on, since you demand to do that in order to get all the endings.

btw it sucked that pascal didn't go the proper treatment before the game concluded. He was such a crucial character. I thought pascal should be given the run a risk to call back his memories and overcome his heartbreak rather than exist defeated.

I tin can say that I never saw him again. After Pascal dies/loses his memory/is left you're pretty much done, equally far as I call back, and I didn't get out of my mode to bank check in on his village, if he's there. I did go back through the door equally A2 in the side by side chapter, which would've been very embarrassing if he was still around, but he had vanished.

Reason I didn't respond sooner is that that's not much of an answer. For all I know he went back to his village and moped and I just never saw it, or is only wandering the desert or whatsoever.

I started to walk away...

I don't quite recall if it was his pathetic screaming or the language of video games making me think I couldn't get out, simply I came back, and I sure as hell wasn't going to erase his memory. That seemed far colder than leaving him to square himself or killing him.

...Then Pascal got got.

I didn't realize walking away was an pick, so that was out for me, just I think that's probably the all-time option. As horrible equally the pain of losing those children was for him, role of conscious existence is learning to deal with intense hardship and keep going. I wiped his memory. I didn't know y'all could walk away, and I might have called that given the option. I wiped his retentiveness first mainly because I didn't know I could walk away. Once I constitute out that walking away was an option I literally replayed that chapter again to walk abroad, because in my mind that was the but right choice. He wanted to be equally shut to human as possible and that ways not being able to forget. I also firmly believe as a person that the but manner we, in our own lives, can overcome repeating the mistakes of our by is to acquire from those mistakes.

Hopefully Pascal tin recover from such a loss, if he does and then I experience the only manner to cease the same thing from happening to the village he starts in the time to come is past remembering what he did wrong in his previous village.

I walked away, super fucking distressing, especially the fashion the camera frames it as y'all walk away.

I feel like equally much as he wanted it, that in the long run he would be glad he didn't have his retentivity wiped.

I feel like A2 wouldn't erase his memories, I mean she probably has tons of bad memories because of the machines too, she doesn't have the luxury of not remembering.

Erased memory. Glad I did because I understood the betoken they were trying to make, only it's still just a video game, and erasing his memory has a video game do good (he becomes a vendor of some crafting parts that don't drop very often).

Then I never had much analogousness with Pascal and never really saw him as an important character. Information technology wasn't until the Waypoint spoilercast and Giant Bomb GotY deliberations that I had any deeper understanding of him, but of course this was long later I had finished Nier: Automata.

Destroying who he is without killing him--that is, wiping his memory--is a fate worse than death. Didn't know about the tertiary option. But I figured it was a really articulate-cut instance and I'm surprised so many chose the culling.
